Merlot-Cabernet Alto Adige DOC

A South Tyrolean red wine that combines Merlot and Cabernet into a cuvée: dark-fruited, dry, and with a firm structure. The Merlot-Cabernet Alto Adige DOC comes from the Kellerei Kaltern, a cooperative winery in Kaltern on the South Tyrolean Wine Road, the heart of viticulture in South Tyrol.

In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red. In the nose, wild berries and black cherry meet a spicy note reminiscent of fresh herbs. On the palate, it feels full and round, the fruit is ripe, and the tannins are fine. The alpine origin gives the wine freshness and balance: the body carries without becoming heavy.

As a companion, it is suitable for roast beef, goulash, game dishes, or strong, piquant cheese. Serve it at 16-18 °C, then the fruit and spice come into their own best. It also goes well with a South Tyrolean Brettljause on a convivial evening.
