The Baron de Chirel Verdejo from Marqués de Riscal shows what the Verdejo grape variety can achieve on its home terroir in Rueda when a great house gives it the necessary space: a white wine with body, structure, and real character.

Marqués de Riscal is one of the oldest and most famous wineries in Spain — founded in 1858 in Rioja, and active for decades in Rueda, where the Verdejo vine unfolds its aromatic depth on the high plateau of Castile. The Baron de Chirel Verdejo is the prestige cuvée of this line and comes here in a gift box.

In the glass, it shines in a strong straw yellow. The nose opens with exotic fruit aromas — ripe mango, a hint of passion fruit — combined with floral tones that are typical for good Verdejo. On the palate, it is creamy and dense, with a present but well-integrated acidity that keeps the wine fresh without stinging. The finish is longer than with simpler Verdejo bottlings.

Goes well with fish in a spicy sauce, chicken with herbs, or roasted vegetables. Also a harmonious combination with mature hard cheese like Manchego. Drinking temperature: 10–12 °C.
