La Capitelle de Baronarques 0.75L

La Capitelle de Baronarques does not come from Bordeaux, but from the Limoux appellation in the southern Languedoc — one of the coolest wine-growing regions in southern France, where Atlantic freshness meets Mediterranean warmth. This climatic peculiarity gives the Merlot the time to ripen slowly and evenly without losing its acidity structure.

Château de Baronarques belongs to the de Rothschild family, who manage the estate with the same consistency that the house from the Médoc is known for. The vineyards around the Château benefit from the foothills of the Pyrenees, which ensure cool nights and thus aromatic precision.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep garnet red with violet reflections. In the nose, black currant and ripe blackberry combine with a fine bergamot note and a discreet hint of marzipan — the interplay appears warm, but never heavy. On the palate, the Merlot is round and ripe, the tannins are firmly integrated and give the wine structure without harshness. The finish is long, dry, and slightly spicy.

Pairs with braised lamb loin, duck breast with plum sauce, or a ripe Tomme from the Pyrenees. Also a good choice with pasta with ragù made from dark meat. Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.
