KWV »The Mentors« Chenin Blanc 0.75L

Chenin Blanc from the Swartland is among the most exciting white wines in South Africa — and the The Mentors from KWV shows why this grape variety is receiving so much attention in the region. Dry style, aromatic density, clear structure.

KWV is one of the oldest and most well-known names in South Africa, founded in 1918 as a winegrowers' cooperative and today an independent winery with broad expertise in vineyard sites. The Mentors line stands for artisanally ambitious wines from selected sites — the Chenin Blanc comes from the Swartland, one of the driest and wildest wine regions of the Cape, known for its old bush vine stocks and intense fruit concentration.

In the glass, it shows aromas of mango, apricot, and dried peach, underscored by a hint of jasmine and fresh lime. On the palate, a creamy texture and good acid structure that keeps the wine lively despite the tropical fruit. The finish is long and fruity with a slightly spicy note.

Served at 10–12 °C, it pairs well with roasted chicken with lemon herbs, grilled sea bass, or a vegetable tagine with chickpeas. It also makes a great impression as an aperitif with a piece of ripe goat cheese.
