Königsbach IDIG Riesling dry Großes Gewächs, VDP.GROSSE LAGE

The Idig in Königsbach is one of the historic top vineyards of the Palatinate, and this Große Gewächs shows why: Riesling with tension, depth, and a salty pull, vinified dry and with clearly perceptible structure.

The A. Christmann winery manages its vineyards organically and understands every vineyard as a place with its own identity. In the Idig, the vines stand on a south-southeast slope on lime-rich sediments with Terra fusca. The mash is fermented spontaneously, and aging takes place in large wooden barrels. This gives the wine a precise texture without masking the fruit.

In the glass, it glows golden yellow. On the nose, citrus fruits and peach meet herbs and floral notes, accompanied by a salty minerality. On the palate, it appears clear and complex, carried by lively acidity and with a long, elegant finish. The wine has plenty of structure and can be stored well in the cellar for years.

Recommendation: Serve it at 8–10 °C, preferably in a large white wine glass. It goes with fried zander or turbot, sweetbreads, and aged mountain cheese.
