A Swiss single malt from Zug: The JOHNETT 10 Years is not chill-filtered and is bottled at 44% vol. It comes from the Etter Söhne AG Distillerie Zug, which is known for its distilling art. The 2012 vintage matured for a total of ten years, and the aging took place in Pinot Noir casks.

In the glass, it shows an intense gold. On the nose, ripe pear, blackberry, and dried plum meet rum raisins, vanilla, cocoa powder, and fine roasted aromas. On the palate, it is soft and round: pear skin, malt sweetness, subtle smokiness, and roasted notes, along with a hint of cubeb pepper, which gives the whole thing tension. The long finish combines ripe fruit with light smoke.

Recommendation: Give it time in the glass, because with some air it opens up further nuances. Best neat and at room temperature, as a digestif after a meal or with dark chocolate.
