Glenelly Estate Reserve Chardonnay

A Chardonnay from Stellenbosch that has Burgundy in mind, but clearly shows South Africa in the glass: ripe fruit, smoothness and a fresh acidity line that holds everything together.

Glenelly Estate is situated on the slopes of Simonsberg in Stellenbosch—one of the region's cooler terroirs. The winery was founded in 2003 by May-Eliane de Lencquesaing, the former owner of Château Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande. Burgundian influence here is therefore not accidental, but rather a deliberate strategy. The Reserve Chardonnay matures in oak barrels and showcases the estate's signature style: structured, yet not overpowering.

On the nose, baked apple, orange peel, and roasted nuts. On the palate, apple follows, along with a hint of mint and spiced butter—a creamy texture supported by lively acidity. The finish brings cake crust and roasted apple, long and warm.
