Doppio Passo Primitivo - 1.5L Magnum bottle

The Doppio Passo Primitivo from Apulia shows why the Primitivo grape variety is so popular in its home region: powerful, dark-fruited, and with a natural sweetness that makes the wine soft and accessible despite all its fullness. The 1.5-liter magnum bottle is the right choice when more than two glasses are called for.

Botter Casa Vinicola is one of the large bottlers in Veneto, but works closely with winemakers in the classic southern Italian regions. The Doppio Passo — the name refers to the two-stage processing of the grapes, in which a portion of the berries is dried — is their most famous Primitivo and stands for the typical Apulian style: dark, dense, with noticeable residual sugar.

In the glass, it shows deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, blackberry jam, plum, and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, soft and full-bodied, with a velvety mouthfeel and a mild, fruit-focused sweetness on the finish. Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.

Pairs well with grilled lamb chops, braised beef, or strong hard cheese like Pecorino stagionato. Also a good choice pure as a companion to an evening with friends — that's what the magnum bottle is made for, after all.
