D.Dagueneau Pouilly Fumé Buisson Renard

Anyone who underestimates Sauvignon Blanc should try this wine. The Pouilly Fumé Buisson Renard shows how much depth and tension the grape variety can develop on the right soils — a wine with substance, not just freshness.

Domaine Didier Dagueneau is one of the most influential names in the Loire Valley. On the flint and limestone soils of Pouilly-sur-Loire, wines are created that are known for their clarity and uncompromising expression. The Buisson Renard vineyard is one of the estate's most famous plots and traditionally produces one of the most concentrated cuvées in the range.

In the 2023 vintage, the glass shows clear notes of citrus and fresh herbs, underpinned by a flinty-mineral note typical of the region. The acidity is lively and carries the wine into a long, salty finish — not a flat wine, but a Sauvignon Blanc with contour and resonance.

Best served at 10 to 12 degrees in a large white wine glass so that the mineral nuances can unfold. A suitable companion to oysters, grilled fish, goat cheese, or a classic Loire dish like rillettes with crispy baguette.
