Conteisa Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 1.5L

The Conteisa is Gaja's homage to the Barbaresco community of Treiso — a Langhe Nebbiolo that showcases the power of this grape variety without the long waiting times of a classic Barolo. The magnum bottle (1.5 l) slows down the maturation process and gives the wine more time to develop its structure.

Angelo Gaja has been one of the defining figures of Piedmont for decades. His winery in Barbaresco stands for a style that combines international attention with Piedmontese substance. The Conteisa carries the DOC Langhe Nebbiolo — a category that Gaja uses for his regional Nebbiolo wines that originate from the vineyards around Barbaresco.

In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose opens with sour cherry, dried rose, and a hint of tar — typical Nebbiolo signature. On the palate, firm but ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long finish with tobacco and dark berry. Not a light everyday wine, but a wine with attitude.

Best served at 16–18 °C, preferably decanted two hours in advance. Pairs well with braised beef, game ragù over tagliatelle, or mature Parmigiano Reggiano.
