Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru AC Grand Cru

The Clos des Lambrays is one of the great red wines of the Côte de Nuits: a Pinot Noir that combines elegance and depth and shows more structure in the glass than its light color would suggest.

The Domaine des Lambrays manages the Clos des Lambrays in Morey-Saint-Denis, one of the few Burgundy sites that are almost entirely in the hands of a single owner. The walled site carries Grand Cru status, the highest classification of the appellation. The wine is vinified dry and stands for the style of the Côte de Nuits: coolness, precision, and origin before power.

In the glass, you expect typical Pinot Noir aromas for a Grand Cru of this site, such as red cherry, raspberry, and dark berries, along with notes of violets, forest floor, and fine spice. On the palate, it feels silky, with taut acidity and finely drawn tannins. The finish is long and mineral.

Serve it at 16 to 18 °C and give it some air in the decanter before pouring. It pairs well with duck breast, sweetbreads, game with mushrooms, or aged Époisses.
