A collector's item for the anniversary: Rocca delle Macìe celebrates 50 years since its founding in 1973 with this Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. The edition is limited to 1,973 magnum bottles and thus bears the founding year in the edition number.

The wine comes from the 2020 vintage and consists of 100% Sangiovese. The grapes grow in the Pian della Casina vineyards of the Tenuta Le Macìe in Chianti Classico. It was aged for 12 months in French oak tonneaux from Tronçais, some of which were new.

Deep ruby red stands in the glass. On the nose, forest berries, blackcurrant, and blackberry meet finely integrated spice. On the palate, it appears dry, warm, and elegant, with red fruit, clear structure, and a long finish.

Recommendation: Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with braised beef, game ragout, or aged Pecorino. The 1.5-liter bottle belongs on a large table, for example for a family celebration or an evening with several guests.
