Château Soucherie Ivoire Chenin Blanc

Chenin Blanc from Anjou is one of the most versatile white wines in France – and the “Ivoire” from Château Soucherie shows why: short aging in oak barrels, which gives the wine depth without slowing down the varietal tension.

Château Soucherie is located in the Layon Valley, one of the most renowned sub-regions of Anjou in the western Loire Valley. The soils of slate and sandstone shape the style of the winery: cool, mineral, precise. Chenin Blanc is at home here – the grape variety is nicknamed “Pineau de la Loire” in the Loire and ripens more slowly here than elsewhere, which gives it its characteristic density of acidity.

In the glass, the Ivoire shows aromas of quince, ripe pear, and white flowers – elderflower or acacia. The short oak barrel aging adds a fine, well-integrated hint of toast that does not mask the fruit but gives it volume. On the palate, the wine is racy and delicate: medium body, lively acidity, mineral finish with slight length. The texture remains lean and fresh without appearing thin.

Serving recommendation: Served at 10–12 °C, it pairs well with scallops with brown butter, white asparagus with hollandaise sauce, fried shrimp, or mild goat cheese. Also a good choice as an aperitif with olives or puff pastry appetizers.

Château Soucherie

Château Soucherie – Loire wine with history. The former castle of the Dukes of Brissac is located in the Côteaux-du-Layon, one of the most beautiful sites in Anjou. The Béguinot family took over the estate and restored it extensively.

28 hectares of vineyards, including 2 hectares of Savennières and 4 hectares of Chaume. Chenin Blanc grows here – for dry wines and some of the most extraordinary sweet wines in the region.

Château Soucherie – Loire as it tastes.
