A Brunello that shows why the single vineyard Cerretalto is one of the most coveted addresses in Montalcino: Sangiovese on calcareous clay soil, hand-picked, fermented with long maceration — the result is a wine with a dense structure and a depth that only opens up gradually.

Casanova di Neri is located in the southeastern part of Montalcino, one of the warmest zones of the appellation. The winery was founded in the 1970s by Giovanni Neri and is now managed by his son Giacomo. The Cerretalto is the estate's flagship site — a narrow amphitheater of skeletal soils that gives the wine a minerality that clearly distinguishes it from broader Brunello cuvées. The 36-month aging in oak barrels gives the wine a frame without masking its character.

In the glass, it glows in deep garnet red. Aromas of wild cherry and pomegranate unfold on the nose, with notes of leather, dried violets, and a hint of tobacco underneath. On the palate, it shows the typical Sangiovese acidity — present but integrated — with dense, silky tannins and a long, mineral finish with hints of cedar wood and earth.

Pairs with braised wild boar, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, or an aged Pecorino di Pienza. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. The magnum bottle is particularly suitable for the dining table with several people — the format promotes more even aging and makes an impression when pouring.
