Centenario Rum 25 Gran Reserva

The Centenario Gran Reserva 25 represents the classic style of the Costa Rican rum tradition: long-aged, smooth in character, with a complexity that grows from two decades of barrel aging.

Centenario Internacional S.A. has been producing in Costa Rica for decades and is one of the best-known houses in Central America. The Gran Reserva 25 matures for 25 years in American oak barrels — a maturation period that is anything but a given in the world of rum. Costa Rica strictly regulates rum production: minimum aging periods and quality controls are legally required, which ensures the Centenario its reliably elegant character.

In the glass, it shows a deep amber. On the nose, caramel, dried plum, and a hint of vanilla, underpinned by oak and a touch of dark chocolate. On the palate, velvety and round, with a pleasant warmth that slowly transitions into a long, spicy finish. Serving temperature: 18–20 °C.

Best enjoyed neat or with a single ice cube — this allows the barrel notes to fully unfold. For those who want to use it in a cocktail: an Old Fashioned with orange bitters is an obvious choice.
