Calvados Ambre XIV 41.8%vol AC Calvados du Pays d'Auge 0.7L

The Ambre XIV is an aged Calvados with the Calvados du Pays d'Auge appellation, bottled at 41.8% vol. It represents the type of Calvados where the wood speaks and the fruit forms the foundation.

The Distillerie des Ambres composes it from all four apple groups approved for Calvados. Each apple distillate is distilled separately, and only then are the distillates combined. The Calvados then matures for at least 14 years in French oak. This long barrel aging brings the wood aromas clearly to the fore.

In the glass, it glows intensely orange with mahogany reflections. On the nose, wood, toast, and vanilla are powerful, accompanied by coffee, caramel, rancio, cinnamon, and notes of fruit soaked in brandy. On the palate, it is complex, structured, and voluminous, yet elegant. The aromas from the nose continue and lead into a long, deep finish.

Recommendation: neat in a tulip glass, at room temperature and without ice, as a digestif after a long meal.
