The Boal 10 Years from Henriques & Henriques is a Madeira in the Medium Rich style: The sweetness is clearly noticeable but is carried by the freshness typical of Madeira. It is suitable for quiet evenings as well as for the end of a long menu.

Henriques & Henriques is one of the well-known Madeira houses and bottles wines from the Portuguese Atlantic island. Boal is one of the classic grape varieties there and stands for wines that appear rich but never heavy. The wine bears an age statement of ten years and has 20% vol.

In the glass, dried fruits, caramel, and nut meet a fine spice that gives the wine depth. On the palate, it is round and harmonious, and the acidity keeps the sweetness in balance. The finish is long, warm, and at the same time lively.

Serve it at 14 to 16 °C, slightly chilled. It pairs well with nut desserts, fruit cakes, and caramelized desserts, with aged cheese, and with foie gras if you are looking for a sweet-spicy contrast.
