Auxerrois quality wine dry

Auxerrois is a rarity in Germany — and in Thuringia of all places, it has one of its few remaining homes. Proppe grows it in the Gleistal near Jena, one of Germany's northernmost wine-growing regions, where calcareous soils and a continental microclimate give the wines a distinct minerality.

In the glass, it shows a light straw yellow. The nose reveals fine citrus peel, white pear, and a hint of elderflower. On the palate, it is vibrant, with a clear acid structure and a mineral-salty finish that reflects its regional origin. Not a heavy, buttery wine — rather lean, precise, with real recognition value.

Best served at 8–10 °C. Pairs well with pan-fried goat cheese, roasted asparagus with herb vinaigrette, or light fish dishes like zander fillet. Also a good choice as an aperitif if you want to pour something less known that raises questions — in the best sense.
