Antillo Bolgheri DOC Tuscany

The Antillo Bolgheri Rosso shows how independent a Bolgheri can be: Sangiovese meets Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot here. This results in a red wine with both freshness and structure.

The Guado al Melo winery cultivates in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, where the Mediterranean climate and proximity to the sea shape the vines. Sangiovese has almost disappeared there. The winery has consciously kept it in the cuvée as a reference to the historical roots of the region. The name Antillo means "place full of sun" and fits the open, bright vineyards.

In the glass, the wine glows in an intense ruby red with fine reflections. On the nose, ripe red fruits meet subtle spice notes. On the palate, it is balanced, with fresh acidity and a long, fruit-forward finish. Recommendation: Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with leg of lamb with rosemary, pappardelle with wild boar ragout, or grilled vegetables with Pecorino.
