Alteni di Brassica Langhe DOP, Sauvignon Blanc

The Alteni di Brassica is a dry Sauvignon Blanc from Piedmont that deviates significantly from the usual representatives of the grape variety with salinity and herbal spice. Gaja, one of the most famous wineries in Italy, produces it as a Langhe DOP in the home region around Barbaresco.

In the nose, oyster shell, mountain herbs, and white peach appear initially. With some air, sage, cedar wood, tomato leaf, and cardamom are added, along with a mineral note of flint. On the palate, it appears fresh and juicy, with medium body and a long finish. In the finish, a fine salty pull remains.

We recommend serving it at 8 to 10 °C. It goes well with raw oysters, fried lake trout, fresh goat cheese with herbs, or vitello tonnato. It also cuts a fine figure as a companion to an antipasti evening with vegetables and seafood.
