1787 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 0.75L

The 1787 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG from Rocca delle Macìe shows what the hills around Montepulciano can produce from Sangiovese and Canaiolo: a structured red wine with a Tuscan backbone and velvety ripeness.

Rocca delle Macìe is a family-run winery in Tuscany that has been producing wines in classic DOC and DOCG vineyards since the 1970s. The 1787 vintage bears the name as a reference to the historical significance of Vino Nobile—one of Italy's oldest DOC wines, prized at European courts as early as the 18th century. The grapes come from select vineyards in Montepulciano and are fermented on the skins for approximately twelve days.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers blackberry, cherry, and dried herbs, along with a hint of tobacco and dark earth. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long, slightly spicy finish—typical of a well-made Nobile.

Pairs well with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, venison ragù, or aged Pecorino cheese. Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Drink by 2029.
