Since 1818, the Chabasse family in Saint-Jean-d’Angély, France, has been dedicated to the art of cognac. Here, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the house combines historical craft tradition with a fine sense for distillates that will stay in your memory.

The foundation for this style is formed by 60 hectares of their own vineyards, which stretch as a contiguous estate across the renowned Fins Bois and Borderies sites. You can taste this origin in every bottle: while distillates from the Borderies often provide floral nuances and soft textures, the terroir of the Fins Bois brings an expressive, round fruitiness to the glass. The result is detailed, barrel-aged cognacs that you can pour neat in a nosing glass just as well as use as a base for a classic cocktail.

Cognac Chabasse –
Independent cognac artistry in family hands since 1818

In 1818, Jean-Baptiste Chabasse laid the foundation in Saint-Jean-d'Angély for an independent cognac house that has remained in family hands to this day. Currently, René-Luc Chabasse continues the tradition, combining historical heritage with a modern, cosmopolitan orientation. The Cognac Chabasse house is characterized by a deep connection to the region and uncompromising artisanal precision.

For the distillates, the family prefers to use grapes from the Fins Bois and Petite Champagne vineyards. After classic double distillation in copper stills, the eaux-de-vie mature for years in Limousin oak barrels. This slow maturation in the estate's dark cellars gives the cognacs their characteristic amber color and the fine balance between fruit and wood.

Stylistically, the creations from Chabasse are extremely elegant and multi-layered. Aromas of dried apricots, fine vanilla, and roasted hazelnuts unfold in the glass, accompanied by a soft, long-lasting finish. Whether as a classic digestif after a good meal, accompanied by dark chocolate, or enjoyed neat on a quiet evening – these cognacs offer sophisticated moments of pleasure.
