Wicker Nonnberg Riesling dry VDP -Premier Cru-

The Wickerer Nonnberg is one of the oldest documented sites in the Rheingau — first mentioned in 1281, and a monopoly site of the Joachim Flick winery since 2003. On extremely calcareous soil, formed from the sediments of a prehistoric sea, a Riesling grows here that carries minerality and longevity within it.

The Flick winery is located in Wicker, the gateway to the Rheingau, in a more than 700-year-old road mill — viticulture since 1650, today in the ninth generation. Reiner Flick lets his wines mature in barrels made of local Taunus oak, which are crafted in traditional craftsmanship. The wood works subtly: it underlines the fruit without overlaying it.

In the glass, the Nonnberg Riesling shows aromas of pome fruit and citrus, supplemented by delicate herbal spice. Juicy and straightforward on the palate, with a clear acidity structure that carries the wine. The finish is powerful, spicy, with lingering fruit — a sign of the limestone soils that give this site its backbone.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs with grilled zander, veal medallions with herb butter, or a mature mountain cheese.
