Wicker Nonnberg Riesling dry VDP -Premier Cru-
The Wickerer Nonnberg is one of the oldest documented vineyard sites in the Rheingau — first mentioned in 1281, and a monopole vineyard of the Joachim Flick winery since 2003. On extremely calcareous soil, formed from the sediments of a prehistoric sea, grows a Riesling that embodies minerality and longevity.
The Flick winery is located in Wicker, the gateway to the Rheingau region, in a mill over 700 years old – winemaking since 1650, now in its ninth generation. Reiner Flick ages his wines in barrels made of local Taunus oak, crafted using traditional techniques. The wood acts subtly: it accentuates the fruit without overpowering it.
In the glass, the Nonnberg Riesling displays aromas of stone fruit and citrus, complemented by delicate herbal spice. On the palate, it is juicy and straightforward, with a clear acidity that supports the wine. The finish is powerful, spicy, with lingering fruit—a testament to the limestone soils that give this vineyard its backbone.
Drinking window: now until 2030+. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with grilled pike-perch, veal medallions with herb butter, or a mature mountain cheese.
