Vinas del Vero Vinas del Vero Gewürztraminer
Gewürztraminer from the Pyrenean foothills of Aragon — that sounds unusual, but it works convincingly here. Viñas del Vero cultivates this grape variety in Somontano, a region that, thanks to cool mountain air from the north and hot summers, produces aromatic white wines with good freshness.
Viñas del Vero is among the pioneers of modern Somontano: The winery has significantly shaped the DO since the 1980s and consistently focuses on both international and local grape varieties—including Gewürztraminer. The high altitude of the vineyards slows down ripening and preserves the varietal aromas.
Straw yellow in the glass with golden reflections. The nose is classically varietal: lychee, rose petal, a hint of ginger, and pink grapefruit. Silky on the palate, with a delicate residual sweetness that carries the aromas without being heavy. The acidity remains present and keeps the wine lively; the finish is spicy and medium-long.
Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Pairs well with dishes containing coconut milk or ginger, Thai curry, mild goat cheese, or duck liver terrine. Also a solid choice as an aperitif with some smoked salmon. Drink now—this style thrives on its freshness.
