Nonnberg Riesling "Vier Morgen" GG

The Nonnberg “Vier Morgen” GG comes from one of the oldest documented vineyard sites in the Rheingau: the Wickerer Nonnberg has been recorded since 1281 and has been a monopole vineyard belonging to the Joachim Flick winery in Wicker since 2003. On extremely calcareous soil, formed from the sediments of a prehistoric sea, Riesling grows with a minerality and aging potential that have made this soil the family's trademark.

The winery itself is deeply rooted in the history of the Rheingau region: Since 1650 – nine generations – the Flick family has been cultivating wine, today on 20 hectares between Wicker, Hochheim and Lorch. Reiner Flick has new wooden barrels made from local Taunus oak using traditional craftsmanship – a commitment to regionality that extends to the very materials used.

In the glass, the "Vier Morgen" displays aromas of wildflowers and lime zest, along with grapefruit and a salty minerality that fills the palate with dense, powerful fruit. The finish is spicy and complex—typical of a limestone Riesling with genuine aging potential. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.

Pairs well with pike-perch with herb butter, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or a mature mountain cheese. As a Grand Cru, it has the substance for several years of cellaring—those who wait will be rewarded.
