Moscato d'Asti "Bricco Quaglia" DOCG - organic
Intense grape and Muscat aroma with hints of rosewater, attractive harmony between residual sugar and acidity, incredibly elegant. Giorgio Rivetti is one of the great movers and shakers in Piedmont. He is the center of the "Barolo Boys," that group of dynamic and immensely successful winemakers: Altare, Clerico, Sandrone, Scavino, etc. Giorgio Rivetti comes from Astigiano. His "house wine" is therefore a Moscato d'Asti. For some years now, however, he has been focusing more on red wines. His first major success was "Pin," a blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo aged in barriques. He named it Pin because that's what everyone in the village called his father. The 1990 Pin immediately achieved the coveted three glasses from Gambero Rosso. After Pin, Giorgio Rivetti concentrated on Barbaresco. Three truly great wines from three different cru vineyards: Gallina, Starderi, and Valeirano. For the labels, he chose Dürer's rhinoceros to emphasize that his Barbaresco is a wine of primal power. It was clear that Giorgio wouldn't neglect Barolo. He bought vineyards and built a new winery near Grinzane Cavour, which he named Campé della Spinetta. This is where his Barolo Campé comes from—a wine of rare density and concentration. For the Barolo, he chose Dürer's lion because it is a wine that embodies not only great power but also elegance.
