Heger Spätburgunder sonett dry

A Baden Pinot Noir that shows what the Kaiserstuhl region is capable of: lively fruit, fine structure, uncomplicated drinkability.

The Dr. Heger winery in Ihringen am Kaiserstuhl is one of Baden's most reliable producers. On volcanic weathered soils—loess over basalt—they cultivate Pinot Noirs with substance and a clear sense of origin. The Sonett is the approachable entry point into the Heger range, vinified for drinking pleasure rather than aging potential.

In the glass, it displays aromas of ripe sour cherry and dark berries, underpinned by a hint of cinnamon and cardamom. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with velvety tannins and subtle acidity—no rough edges or harshness. The finish is short to medium-long, fruity and spicy.

  • Dishes: Grilled chicken, lentil soup with bacon, young goat cheese or porcini mushroom risotto

Dr. Heger Winery

The Dr. Heger winery – a country doctor laid the foundation in 1935. Max Heger purchased fallow parcels of land on the Ihringer Winklerberg vineyard, and his son Wolfgang continued the business in the 1960s. Today, oenologist Joachim Heger manages the estate in the third generation – together with his wife Silvia. He has been chairman of the VDP Baden (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) since 2009. In addition to the Winklerberg vineyard, the estate now also includes parcels on the Achkarrer Schlossberg vineyard – both classified as "Erste Lage" (Premier Cru) by the VDP. On volcanic weathered soils with a loess topsoil, wines with character, depth, and fine minerality are cultivated here. Top-class Baden wines that you can taste.
