Estate Range Pinotage

Smoky notes with intense fruit aromas embedded in spice notes of cinnamon, cloves, and coffee; fleshy and structured on the palate with soft tannins; full-bodied finish with a delicate mocha aroma. Fairview was founded in 1693 and has been owned by the Back family since 1937. Today, Charles Back, representing the third generation, manages the winery. Fairview is situated on the southwestern slopes of Paarl Rock at the Cape of Good Hope, offering spectacular views of Table Mountain. The estate's vineyards are located in various regions of the Western Cape (Paarl, Swartland, Darling, and Coastal Region), allowing them to utilize the ideal geographical and climatic conditions for each grape variety. Charles Back's guiding principle is "go where the terroir is" to fully realize the potential of each grape variety. Today, the winery offers a range of distinctive and characteristic wines from all of its top regions. 'La Capra' means 'the goat' in Italian and refers to the goat breeding and dairy at Fairview. Fairview isn't a winery in the traditional sense; rather, it's a farm that produces wine, cheese, and bread, among other things. The enterprising Charles Back also runs a brewery, a chocolate factory, and a nationally renowned restaurant. Sustainability is a central component of Charles Back's philosophy, and he was awarded the International Wine Challenge's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.
