If you're looking for a red wine that offers more than its price suggests, the Conde Pinel Oak Aged Tempranillo is just the thing. Behind this wine is David Tofterup—a Dane who moved to Spain at the age of 15 and turned his passion into his profession. His goal was never the most expensive wine, but the best at a fair price.

The grapes come from 30-year-old vines in the province of Alicante and possess a natural depth that younger vines simply lack. Four months of aging in French oak barrels give the wine its velvety vanilla notes without overpowering it. The result is a deep purple in the glass, with aromas of blueberries, black cherries, and a delicate hint of coffee—a robust body, ripe tannins, and a long finish.

Open it for weekday dinner as well as for Sunday roast. It goes perfectly with leg of lamb, aged Manchego cheese, or a hearty lentil stew.
