Chateauneuf du Pape Chateau de Beaucastel Hommage a Jacques Perrin 0.75L

The Hommage à Jacques Perrin is the grande cuvée of Beaucastel—named after the father of Jean-Pierre and François Perrin, who shaped the winery into one of the most significant Châteauneuf-du-Pape estates in the 1960s. Anyone opening this bottle holds one of the most concentrated expressions of the southern Rhône in their hand.

Château de Beaucastel is located in the northern part of the appellation, on the famous Galets Roulés plateau—those large, round pebbles that store heat during the day and release it at night. The winery is farmed biodynamically and is known for its use of all 13 grape varieties permitted in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Hommage consists of an unusually high proportion of old Mourvèdre vines, supplemented by Grenache from equally old vines.

In the glass, it shows deep ruby red. The nose opens with dark fruits—blackberry, cassis, black olive—plus lavender, wild herbs of the garrigue, and a hint of leather. On the palate, it is dense and structured, with tannins that have substance without being grippy. The finish is long, spicy, with a mineral aftertaste.

Best served at 17–18 °C, ideally decanted. Pairs with braised lamb shank with thyme, wild boar ragout, or aged Comté.
