Chardonnay Kidnappers Vineyard

A Chardonnay that combines New Zealand precision with Burgundian finesse: clearly structured, with lively acidity and a depth that one does not always expect from Hawke's Bay.

Craggy Range was founded in 1997 by the Australian Peabody family and Master of Wine Steve Smith in Hawke's Bay — in the shadow of the Te Mata Peak hills. From the outset, the winery has pursued a consistent single-vineyard philosophy: each vineyard tells its own story, with no blending across terroirs. The Kidnappers Vineyard follows this tradition, producing Chardonnay with a distinctive terroir profile.

In the glass, it displays aromas of grapefruit, green citrus peel, and kaffir lime leaves, underpinned by white blossoms and a mineral hint reminiscent of oyster shells. On the palate, it is fresh and focused, with a savory, almost salty texture and a long, nuanced finish.

Best served at 10–12 °C . Pairs well with scallops with lemon butter, grilled sea bass, or a creamy seafood risotto. Also a good choice on its own as an aperitif.
