Capitel Fontana Recioto della Valpolicella Classic DOCG Veneto 0.5L

A Recioto that brings sweetness and structure together: raspberry, wild blackberry, and blueberry meet fine oak spice. The half-liter bottle is suitable for the end of a meal or for a quiet evening for two.

The grapes come from a one-hectare, east-facing vineyard in Valpolicella Classica, which Agr. F.lli Tedeschi manages itself. The vines have been standing for 25 years in the pergola system on moraine loam and limestone. Harvesting takes place from the end of September to the beginning of October, after which the grapes dry for four months at controlled humidity. The Recioto is a historic Valpolicella wine that was already known in Roman times as Retico and later as Acinatico. It is fermented for 30 days at 15 °C, then matures for two years in Slavonian oak barrels and another six months in the bottle.

In the glass, a strong, clear ruby red. In the nose, sweet red and dark berries with an oak note; on the palate, an elegant, powerful structure with balanced sweetness. The finish picks up the aromas of the bouquet and lingers for a long time. Serve it at 14–16 °C with strong cheese, Foie gras, or dry pastries, or with fresh strawberries.
