Barbaresco "Gallina" DOCG
La Spinetta's Barbaresco "Gallina" embodies what has driven Giorgio Rivetti for decades: Nebbiolo with precision and expression from one of Piedmont's finest Cru vineyards. The Gallina vineyard in Neive is one of the three single vineyards on which Rivetti has focused his Barbaresco efforts – alongside Starderi and Valeirano.
Rivetti is no mere footnote in Piedmontese wine history. As a member of the "Barolo Boys," he helped shape the modern style of Piedmontese wine alongside contemporaries like Elio Altare and Luciano Sandrone. The rhinoceros by Albrecht Dürer on the label is a statement of intent: raw power, no compromises.
In the glass, the Gallina displays the classic Nebbiolo profile characteristic of this vineyard: ripe sour cherry and dried rose petals on the nose, along with a hint of truffle and wild berries. On the palate, silky tannins, licorice, subtle spice, and a long, mineral finish with good freshness.
Serving temperature 16–18 °C , drinking window open for several years. Pairs well with Brasato al Barolo, wild boar salami or a mature Parmigiano Reggiano.
