Trapiche Oak Cask Syrah

An approachable Syrah from Trapiche – one of Argentina's oldest and most renowned wineries, founded in 1883 in Mendoza at the foot of the Andes. The grapes come from their own vineyards as well as from long-standing partnerships with over 200 winegrowers in the country's best wine-growing regions – from Luján de Cuyo to the Uco Valley.

In the glass, the Oak Cask Syrah displays a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose opens with ripe blackberries and black plum, followed by aromas from the oak aging: dark chocolate, a hint of leather, and dried fruits like dates and figs. With a little aeration, a subtle spiciness develops – black pepper and a touch of tobacco, typical of the grape variety. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with soft, well-integrated tannins. The acidity remains in the background, and the finish is round and pleasantly long – uncomplicated and enjoyable without any high expectations.

Recommendation: Pairs well with grilled food – Argentinian asado, beef steaks, or lamb chops are particularly good. Also a solid choice with spicy pasta dishes with tomato sauce or hard cheeses like Manchego. Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Drink now – not suitable for long-term storage.
