Malecon Reserva Superior 12 Years
Malecon Reserva Superior 12 Años is a Panamanian rum that matures for twelve years in oak barrels — developing a creaminess that combines Caribbean sweetness with continental maturity.
The Malecon distillery uses the Solera method: younger and older rums are blended in layers, so that each bottling carries aromas from several vintages. The barrels are stored in caves around Panama—a natural climate that slows down the maturation process evenly and gives the distillate time to develop depth.
The nose is dominated by vanilla, underpinned by mild toasted oak and a hint of dried fruit. On the palate, the texture is creamy and smooth, with a delicate spice note in the background—cinnamon, a touch of nutmeg—before a silky, lingering finish. No harsh alcohol, no sharp edges.
Serving suggestion: neat at room temperature or with a single ice sphere to slowly open the aromas. Classically also as a base for an Old Fashioned with rum. Suitable occasion: quiet moments after dinner, as an alternative to cognac.
