Vya Vermouth Extra Dry
Quady Winery's Vya Extra Dry is no ordinary vermouth—it was born from the conviction that a good vermouth begins with equally good base wines, just like a great still wine. Dry, herbaceous, with an aromatic depth that goes beyond the ordinary.
Laurel and Andrew Quady established their winery in the San Joaquin Valley in 1975—initially known for exceptional dessert wines made from Orange Muscat and Black Muscat. Vermouths followed as a logical extension: The base wines, including Orange Muscat from their own vineyards, provide a fresh, neutral foundation. Fifteen herbs—some grown on the estate, others sourced from India, Russia, and Spain—are added in carefully measured quantities.
The nose reveals aromas of orange peel, dried herbs, and a hint of walnut. On the palate, the Vya Extra Dry is lean and dry, with a spicy herbal note and a clean, slightly nutty finish. Serving temperature: well chilled, 6–8 °C.
Classically used as a base for a Martini — the ratio can be more generous than usual, as the vermouth carries the flavor. Alternatively, enjoy it neat on ice with a lemon zest or as an aperitif with olives and almonds.
