San Salvagio Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG

A classic representative of southern Tuscany: The San Salvagio Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG shows why Prugnolo Gentile — the local Sangiovese clone — has formed the backbone of this appellation for centuries.

Tenuta San Salvagio cultivates its vineyards around the town of Montepulciano at an altitude of approximately 600 meters. The soils alternate between clay and sandstone, giving the wine its characteristic combination of structure and freshness. As a DOCG, each bottle undergoes a minimum of two years of aging before leaving the winery—one of the strictest minimum aging periods in Tuscany.

In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby color with a slightly garnet rim. The nose offers aromas of sour cherry, dried plum, and violet, underpinned by hints of tobacco and earth. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with firm but ripe tannins and lively acidity—typical of Sangiovese at this altitude. The finish is long and spicy. The wine industry awarded this vintage 89 points.

Serving suggestion: Serve at 17–18 °C. Pairs well with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar salami, braised dishes with rosemary jus, or aged Pecorino di Pienza. Drinking window: now until 2030.

Tenuta San Salvagio

San Salvagio lies near Siena, within the historic walls of Montepulciano in Tuscany. The cellar of the San Salvagio estate was built entirely from materials salvaged from old Tuscan farmhouses. On approximately 10 hectares of land, the vineyards of Pietrose, Spinella, and Colombelle, primarily planted with Sangiovese, favor the production of top-quality wines, thanks to the unique soil composition, the favorable vineyard location, and the special microclimate. All of this is the result of Luciano Scaccini's passion and unwavering dedication. All of this leads us to say: San Salvagio red wines from Montepulciano!
