Château Rozier Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Color: Deep purple-red with dark violet highlights. Aroma: Seductive bouquet of sweet, ripe berries, plums, and delicate licorice. Taste: Soft and powerful with abundant aromatic richness, fruit, and freshness on the palate; fleshy, full-bodied, with excellent structure from the tightly woven yet silky tannins; a wine full of elegance and finesse right through to the long, lingering finish. At Château Rozier, the harvest begins on September 18th with the Merlot grapes and ends on September 29th with the Cabernet Franc. All grapes are harvested by hand into small baskets and fermented using traditional methods. The wine matures for approximately 15 months in oak barrels, one-third new, one-third one-year-old, and one-third two-year-old. Concours de Bordeaux 2012: Gold Medal

Château Rozier is located in the heart of Saint-Émilion – one of France's great wine regions. In Saint Laurent des Combes, the Saby family cultivates 28 hectares on clay-limestone soils, which give the wine its typical depth and elegance.

Merlot dominates in the glass at 80 percent – soft, ripe, and velvety. Cabernet Franc adds fresh spice and structure. The vines are on average 40 years old: roots that reach deep and produce wines that tell more than just their origin. Hand-harvesting, concrete tanks, and a carefully considered use of barrels ensure that the character of the terroir remains paramount – not the winemaking technique.

A Saint-Émilion that doesn't need a big stage to impress.
