Old St. Croix Spirits ApS
AH Riise – Rum with a turbulent history. Developed in the former Danish Virgin Islands, the Danish West Indies. Thanks to his descendant, Peter Kelstrup, the famous pharmacist's recipes have been preserved to this day. The islands have a dramatic past: plantations, slave labor, conflicts with rival nations. The first Danish governor even granted pirates the right to sail under the Danish flag – to expand the fleet. On St. Thomas, "Skytsborg," Blackbeard's castle, still stands.
Caribbean rum tradition from the Danish Virgin Islands
AH Riise is no ordinary rum. The recipes originate from a Danish pharmacist who worked on St. Croix in the 19th century – and were preserved for posterity by his descendant, Peter Kelstrup. The islands, once a Danish colony, have a rich and complex history: plantations, piracy, and Blackbeard. This historical context is also reflected in the character of the bottlings.
