Helderberg Winery
The name comes from the mountain: Helderberg means "bright mountain" in Afrikaans – and precisely there, at the foot of this shining peak, lies this traditional winery. The first grapes were harvested here as early as 1906.
Today, Helderberg Winery belongs to the renowned Boekenhoutskloof family. The vineyards benefit from their proximity to the sea and the fertile soils. Here, full-bodied, elegant red wines are produced, most notably a first-class Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas of blackcurrant and cedar.

At the foot of the Helderberg – "bright mountain" in Afrikaans – grapes have been harvested since 1906. The winery now belongs to the Boekenhoutskloof family and is one of the oldest continuously operating estates in the Stellenbosch region. Its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean ensures cool nights, preserving the aromatics and acidity of the grapes, while the fertile granite and sandstone soils give the wines structure.
The Cabernet Sauvignon is the heart of the range: dense aromas of blackcurrant and cedar, a firm tannin structure that promises aging potential. Ideal with braised lamb rump or aged hard cheese.
