Dr. Lindicke Winery

Wine has been cultivated in the Mark Brandenburg region since the 12th century. This occurred primarily under the patronage of the Brandenburg margraves and bishops, and through the active viticultural efforts of the numerous monasteries, especially the Cistercians. In 1985/86, the Werderaner Wachtelberg vineyard was replanted by the then-existing cooperative "Obstproduktion" Werder on an area of 4.8 hectares, exclusively with the Müller-Thurgau grape variety. This replanting serves as a reminder that viticulture was of great importance in many towns and villages of the Mark, and that the town of Werder (Havel) developed into the center of Brandenburg's wine production over the course of several centuries. Alongside fishing, viticulture is one of the oldest trades in Werder (Havel). Of course, there is also winegrowing further north (Mecklenburg, Denmark, Sweden, etc.) – but the vineyards registered for quality wine "QbA" end at the Werderaner Wachtelberg.
