Jurtschitsch

The Jurtschitsch winery was founded in Lower Austria in 1868. It was successfully built by the three brothers Erwin, Paul, and Karl Jurtschitsch, who handed over the management to Erwin's son Alwin and his wife Stefanie in 2008. Lower Austria has a continental climate with significant fluctuations between day and night temperatures. The vineyard soils consist of loess, slate, and volcanic rock, providing not only the grapes but also peach trees and wild garlic with the necessary minerals and support. The Jurtschitsch winery's total vineyard area amounts to 62 hectares. The family business primarily produces white wines, cultivating the Grüner Veltliner and Riesling grape varieties. A few red wines are made from Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, and Merlot grapes. The winery's commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness means that chemical agents and pumps are not used.
