An underground stone cellar in Oyón: Here began a story spanning more than 125 years. Joaquín Martínez Bujanda built it to age the wines he brought from his vineyards. From the very first day, our family's passion has always originated in the same place: the land and the vineyard itself. This has been our path, our work, what interests us, what moves us: to offer something personal, something different, with a unique character. To break forms in order to find new forms of ourselves. The next step came from Marcelino, Jesús' son, a new underground cellar in the upper part of the village. The next generation, led by Jesús Martínez Bujanda, began the expansion phase, the first experiences when the wines "married" the Bordeaux barrels. Above all, Jesús consolidated one of our hallmarks: the search for quality wines from various countries, used to create unique wines. Following this philosophy, which focused on the vineyard and produced wines that faithfully express the land, the third and fourth generations, Jesús Martínez Bujanda, launched the Conde Valdemar project, building one of the most modern and technologically advanced wineries of its time. The winery also brought together tradition and innovation. A pioneer in wines that broke the mold (white wines fermented in barrels or Garnacha monovarietal wines), Conde Valdemar specializes in Grandes Reservas. It set new trends and also produced wines that transcended them. The story continued with the fifth generation, Ana and Jesús Martínez Bujanda, who launched a new project in 2008: Inspiración Valdemar. Another step towards quality and singularity, to get the greatest expression from each variety and each package. Modern and personal wines that utilize local varieties to produce unique creations like the Graviano and Maturana monovarietal wines. The search for new challenges never ends: In 2016, Ana and Jesús launched a new project: Finca del Marquesado. A regional wine from one of the most important vineyards in Rioja.
