Chateau d'Arsac
Philippe Raoux acquired the Arsac estate in 1986 and undertook extensive renovations of the château, completely modernizing the winery. Apart from the retaining walls, he essentially began a renovation from the ground up. His other priority was to revitalize the 112 hectares of vineyards and revive the quality of the wine. A unique experience came when he approached the INAO, France's national wine institution and wine regulator, to have the Château d'Arsac vineyard reclassified as part of the Margaux appellation. This was a true testament to the tenacity of a vineyard owner. Since 1995, 54 hectares of the vineyard have been classified under the AOC Margaux appellation, with the remainder belonging to the AOC Haut-Médoc appellation. Philippe's visionary approach is reflected in a strong alliance between wine, vines, and the arts. He is committed to making Château d'Arsac a lasting expression of both modernity and tradition. He commissioned the Bordeaux architect Patrick Hernandez with the meticulous task of renovating Château d'Arsac and boldly modernizing the estate. Through the combination of stainless steel, wood, glass, and the Electric Blue paintwork, Château d'Arsac stands out and is now considered one of the most original châteaux in the Médoc. The Château d'Arsac estate covers 250 hectares. The 112-hectare vineyard is planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc (Cuvée Céline).
