riesling-zeller-kreuzberg
Riesling Zeller Kreuzberg

A Riesling that shows what limestone and south-facing slopes can do: precise acidity, clear minerality, not an ounce of fat too much.

The Schwedhelm winery cultivates its vines in the Zeller Kreuzberg vineyard at an altitude of approximately 240 meters – soils of limestone and clay loam, slopes of up to 27%, consistently facing south. This combination ensures slow, even ripening and a restrained minerality that is immediately noticeable in the glass.

The wine was vinified with meticulous care: hand-harvested with pre-selection, eight hours of skin contact for texture and depth, spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and lees aging until the end of May. No oak, no frills – the focus is on the fruit and the terroir.

In the glass, it shines bright and clear. The nose reveals nectarine, lemon zest, and a hint of white peach. On the palate, a firm, precisely defined acidity dominates, supported by the limestone minerality – the finish is salty, long, with a slight stone fruit echo. No residual sugar to distract from the wine.

Serving suggestion: 10–12 °C. Drinkable now, but will easily keep until 2028. Pairs well with grilled pike-perch with herb butter, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or a mature goat cheese.
