Lagrein is an autochthonous grape variety that traditionally grows on the sandy, alluvial soils in the Bolzano basin near Gries – warm, sheltered sites that give the variety its dense color and powerful tannin structure. For the Riserva, selected grapes are aged longer in barriques, which gives the wine additional depth.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn the nose, blackberry, dark cherry, and plum, underpinned by cocoa and a hint of vanilla from the wood. On the palate, velvety tannins, juicy fruit, and a spicy, long finish with slightly earthy notes.
