To this day, wine from this vineyard graces royal tables.

Behind the wine is the Joachim Flick winery in Wicker, the western gateway to the Rheingau region, located in a mill over 700 years old and family-owned since 1650 – nine generations. The vines grow in the so-called Mainz Basin, a former primeval sea whose sediments create exceptionally calcareous soils. These soils are the reason for the pronounced minerality and longevity of the wines. Reiner Flick sources new wooden barrels from local Taunus oak, crafted using traditional techniques.

In the glass, the Riesling displays vibrant citrus aromas – lemon zest, grapefruit – complemented by herbal and spicy notes and a juicy, slightly tropical fruitiness on the palate. The acidity is present and supports the wine, the finish is long and characterized by a fine minerality.

As a Grand Cru, this wine has aging potential – drinking window until at least 2032. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with turbot with beurre blanc, pan-fried pike-perch, or a mature Comté cheese.
