Ernst Loosen, who took over the winery in 1988, consciously preserved the old vines of the site: vines 60 years old and over produce concentrated musts with natural depth.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e The Grand Cru is fermented in used oak barrels and matures there for at least twelve months. The oak remains in the background – no vanilla notes, no toasty aromas – but it lends the wine stability and creates that creamy texture that characterizes the estate\u0026#39;s style. The nose reveals white peach, mint, and a floral undertone; with aeration, a subtle slate spice emerges. On the palate, it is clearly structured, vibrant, with a long, mineral finish and rich extract.
