Their Swartland estate is known for handcrafted white wines made from old vines – a far cry from the industrial mainstream of the Cape region. Plat'bos , their third single-vineyard Chenin Blanc since 2018, comes from vines planted in 1981 on weathered granite soil. These same vines also contribute to their regular David & Nadia blend – here, they stand alone in the glass.

The nose offers aromas of ripe yellow pear, candied citrus peel, and a distinct hint of anise. The palate is full and oily in texture, as is typical of old Chenin vines growing on mineral-rich soil – but without heaviness: the lively acidity and a stony, almost salty intensity keep the wine lean and long. The finish lingers with a spicy freshness.

Serving temperature: 11–13 °C. Drinking window: 2025–2030. Pairs well with grilled monkfish with caper butter, chicken with lemon and olives, or a strong goat cheese.
