David Sadie and Nadia Louw are among the winemakers who have shown that South Africa is capable of far more than Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Their winery north of Cape Town works with old dry-trellised vines on granite and schist soils – sites that give the Grenache a structure unexpected in this region. The wines are produced with minimal intervention: spontaneous fermentation, little to no new oak, and bottling without filtration.

In the glass, the Grenache Noir displays the typical profile of old vines: garnet red with a light rim, aromas of sour cherry, hibiscus, and dried herbs, with a subtle hint of garrigue. The body is medium-bodied, the tannins silky – not a heavyweight, but a wine with elegance and length. The finish is spicy and slightly salty.

Serving temperature 16–17 °C. Pairs well with grilled lamb with rosemary, roast lamb chops, goat cheese, or a mature Comté. It's also delicious on its own – a glass for a good hour.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0896/3509/4864/files/66101018_2109_afc94fbd-4267-41e5-9004-7b50d73fbd61.png?v=1780997736
